Labor and employment disputes have become increasingly complex. Litigation often involves multi-faceted claims of discrimination, employee classification, off-the-clock work, pay equity, and unpaid overtime. The merit of each claim ultimately is an empirical question that requires detailed analysis of the data specific to the claim. Quant Economics applies rigorous econometric techniques, meticulous database analytics, and superior quantitative methods to accurately evaluate claims and measure the impact.
Project Profiles
Class Certification.
Plaintiffs seeking to certify a class proposed a methodology for estimating the amount of time spent by managers performing non-exempt duties. On behalf of the defendant’s legal team, Quant Economics conducted a thorough examination. Our work revealed that the plaintiffs’ methodology was not consistent with sound scientific principles. The sample data relied upon by plaintiffs were not representative of the class as a whole and did not permit a reliable estimate of hours spent on specific tasks. Ultimately, class certification was denied.
Compensation Structure.
Economists at Quant Economics are highly skilled in executing analyses that aid in the development of compensation structure and incentive programs. Our experts combine facts, comparative industry data, and economic theory to solve the dynamic, compensation-related strategic challenges faced by evolving companies. During this work, we conduct option valuation, internal surveys, and compensation analysis for corporate filings and regulatory compliance.
